Wangaratta Golf Club are holding a Juniors Challenge on Sunday 15th September 2024 9.30am. Register your interest by calling the club directly 57213426 This Junior Challenge is designed to allow juniors with or without handicaps to take part in a district wide competition, to develop their ongoing passion for golf and to introduce them to competition with like minded juniors.
Round 1: Club Level

Midgets – 8-11 year old2 play 6 holes 1-6 or 10-15
o
Tweens – 12-14 year olds, play 9 holes
o
Rookies – 15-18 year olds play 18
•
Participants play off their handicap if they have one, or 36 for boys and 45 for girls if they do not.
•
Play can be from a short course if you have one rated with a stableford ranking for the Midgets, otherwise white/blue for boys and red for girls for the Tweens and Rookies.
•
Competition should be scored manually on cards.
•
The best 5 resulting cards for your club (boys and girls together) should be submitted to NEDGA3
•
The top 5 results across the district will be rewarded with the following:
o
Midgets and Tweens – $30 gift voucher each
o
Rookies – $50 gift voucher each
Round 2: Local District Level
•
All 5 players whose cards were submitted after Round 1 from each club now also progress to the “Local District” semi. These Local Districts will be dependent on the location of clubs taking part, but will be made up of groups of 3 or 4 clubs in close geographical proximity.4
•
The clubs in each Local District shall confer (NEDGA will assist with providing contacts etc) and arrange a day in October 2024 and the venue that suits all.5
•
Age groups should be as per Round 1 and the top 5 cards from each Local District will again be submitted to NEDGA.
•
The top 5 results across the NE district will be rewarded with the following:
o
Midgets and Tweens – $30 gift voucher each
o
Rookies – $50 gift voucher each
Round 3: NEDGA District – in conjunction with the NEDGA Junior Championships.
•
All 5 players whose cards were submitted after Round 2 from each Local District, now qualify to play in the final of the Junior Challenge, which will be held in conjunction with the NEDGA Junior Championships6. These will be played at a central course (TBA) on Sunday 24th November
•
Entry for these players who have progressed through these 3 rounds will be free.
•
If the players have a handicap and otherwise meets any criteria for the Junior Championships they may play in both events concurrently. (ie S/F result will be used for the Challenge, while their stroke result will be taken for Championships)
•
The winners of the 3rd Round of the Junior Challenge will each receive a trophy and $75 gift card, and runners up $50 gift card.
